I have talked about Underwood Family Farms here and here! I absolutely love this place and the love for this place grows each visit and as Hue gets older and we discover more things to do.

This was our first visit ever. It was before the pandemic in October on a Sunday. It was crowded and in my opinion expensive for a farm. Looking back it was just because Hue was young (he was under 1 years old) and couldn’t do that much but we also went at the busiest time of year on one of their more busier days. We are just not crowd lovers so this threw us off a little.

Since this initial visit we have been a handful of times more and with each visit we learn and discover so many things. We absolutely love coming here. We have also learned a few tricks:

Try to go on a weekday if possible. If you have to go on a weekend I would go early in the morning or later in the afternoon.

We tend to spend about 2-3 hours there before a toddler breaks down or needs a nap so we try to go in the morning time.

Talk to the people who work there. They are so friendly and offer great tips for kids. Usually they relate because they have young kids too. I ask the front if there is anything I should check out and when I am buying tickets I talk to the cashier about what I’m about to purchase so they can give me some good suggestions.

Each season is set up differently so no visit will ever be the same, even if you go at the same time of year. It is such a huge farm with so much to do. One visit might be more farm related, another might be more petting zoo + attractions related. This is what I have found with my son’s age. (He’s almost 3!)

Each visit has a theme or a purpose. We go for strawberry picking, or during Halloween for pumpkins, or spring time for farm fresh grown veggies and fruits. It really is a different experience every time we go!

The prices change through out the year. Around Halloween seems to be the priciest. If you go during the week it’s less expensive and less crowded. The tractor ride, petting zoo, kids play area with tractor slides and wooden play structure, swings and a seasonal corn maze and picking fruits and vegetables are all apart of your purchased ticket. Anything you pick from the farm, you pay for at the end. They have extra attractions that you buy tickets for. I have been able to avoid buying tickets until our last visit. Hue wanted to play in the water with the rocks so we did that. That was actually a lot of fun and he got to take the gemstones home that he found (we purchased a bag that he cleaned in the water to find all the gemstones). He also wanted to ride the bumble bees that were driven by a tractor. We did all that and Hue was very happy.

I usually get most of my pumpkins from Trader Joes, but I left with a few tiny pumpkins called Sugar Pumpkins (which are great for baking) on our last visit.

I always try to go here at least once each season. Hue is at the perfect age for this place. It really is a great place to come and enjoy a couple of hours outdoors.

We hope to come here for years to come!
