Such a fun fall DIY. So easy to make too! Hue and I went on a walk to collect some good sized fall leaves. They are everywhere around this time of year and a fun thing for Hue to collect. Here is what you need for this DIY:

SUPPLIES:

Fall Leaves

Washable Paint (I love this company’s paint)

Paint Brushes (Here are the brushes we use all the time)

Palette Trays (Love these)

Paper (I like this paper)

Scissors

String (Any string will do!)

A Found Stick

Tape (I use artist’s tape)

HOW TO MAKE FALL LEAF DIY:

First, go on a walk to collect a few fall leaves that will act like your leaf “stamp”. Once you bring your fall leaves home you are ready to make your stamps. You can do it two ways with toddlers. You can pour some paint in a palette tray and have your toddler put the leaf directly on the puddle of paint and kind of smoosh it around until the leaf is covered, then place the paint covered leaf onto the paper and push down with your fingers. – This is the more fun + messy way but great for toddlers who don’t care about the final outcome.

Or if you care about the final result, then I would paint the leaf. The more fall colors you mix the more prettier the painted leaves will be. I like to use yellow, orange, red and green to start with. If you are doing this part with toddlers they will mix the paint and that is kind of where the magic happens with all the pretty colors. Once your painted leaf is fully covered, then stamp it onto white paper.

Once the stamped leaves are dry, cut out the leaves, I left a little bit of white around each leaf but you can do whatever you want! I punch a whole on the top and attached a string from the leaf to the found branch/twig. Then when all my leaves were attached to the branch, I hung the whole fall leaf DIY to the wall by artist’s tape.

*A helpful tip, I heavily painted the stem of the leaf too but if it still doesn’t show up very clear I went ahead and painted it in a little. Your leaf needs a stem!

I was so delighted how easy + fun this DIY was. It’s such a great craft for this time of year!
