So simple. When you prick the orange with the clove it mixes the warm spice scent of the clove with the sweet of the orange. When I first got the job that I am at now I use to listen to Martha Stewart all day, every day on Sirius Satellite Radio. She would throw out great nuggets of information constantly. Sadly her channel ended but I still remember her saying that around the holiday season she loves to fill her bowls with cloved oranges, also known as Pomander Balls. The whole point of these is as they dry they release more of their warm sweet scent. So roughly four years later I am checking this orange + clove situation out.

All you need is oranges and cloves! That is it. I made a different design each time just tried to follow the curve of the orange. These were super fun to make because they were so easy. They would also make great gifts if the receiver is into this scent filled aroma kind of thing. You can attach string and hang it on your tree. I like them on my dining room table so they are a nice pop of color when I walk in.

This is a time in the packed holiday season where I get rid of any leftover pumpkins that have been hanging out and I freshen things up with these cloved oranges. Makes the holidays feel a little more holiday-ish since the weather here in Los Angeles has felt like summer.
