I am trying to tighten up the organization in my home. I am starting in my home office because I get the most frustrated in here. It becomes such a catch-all so quickly. I need this room to function on high. It needs to be ready for when I am being creative, designing on my computer, getting crafty, making a shelf or staining some wood, it’s where inspiration lives through moodboards, lists, and art. It’s nice to know where everything is and that everything has a home.
I got started with something small but so effective! I had this and this in my closet. They were purchased a couple of months ago but I new they needed to be painted and that delayed the whole process. When I saw them I new they would make all my pens and colored pencils easy to see and within reach. The bar and 4 cups cost less than $6.
I wanted them to look like they were hand dipped in a can of light blueish, greenish paint. But I didn’t have the luxury of a full paint can with this color to dip my buckets in so… I taped them. When the paint dried and the tape was getting pulled off some of the paint was getting pulled too but I was okay with it not looking perfect. It looks more hand-made and rustic this way. If the blemishes really bothered me I would get a fine tipped brush and fill in the small gaps. It would look super clean if that is more of the look you prefer.
It’s an easy project, super cost effective and something you can do within a couple of hours. (You have to wait for the paint to dry)
I love seeing all my pen, pencils and markers right in my eye sight. No more fishing for a pen when I need one desperately! Even though this is a small step it makes my brain calmer because these few things have a home that makes sense. Now I need to organize my brushes and paints!
Coming soon is a DIY shelf for all my paints, paint brushes, nick knacks and art.
