Today my dad turned 87 years old! He immigrated here from Ireland in 1962, got married in his 4o’s, had FIVE children, worked

for the city of Los Angeles as a health inspector for hospitals, plus so much more. On Saturday, (St. Paddy’s day – that’s why there is so much green!)

we sat down for a nice dinner to celebrate his 87 years. I am turning 40 in June and have been V reflective on my years and decades lately. Which is

what prompted this questionnaire of sorts…

 

I aske the near and dear friends to name one word for each decade. Here are my dad’s answers:

If you could some up each decade to one word what would it be?

Birth date: 1931

Ages 1-10: Fear but he called later to add: extreme poverty

Ages 10-20: Fear Continued (War was real in his youth, he said if a plane flew over head they didn’t know if they were going to get bombed or not

Ages 20-30: Farming/Agriculture School

Ages30-40: First Job in Nursing School

Ages 40-50: Marriage

Ages 50-60: Kids!

Ages 60-70: Work,work, work

Ages 70-80: Retired

Ages 80+: More Retirement
