I felt like it was time to update you all here with how Hue’s toddler refresh is going. You can check out his nursery here. I really wanted his baby room to be peaceful and relaxing. The past year we have been making small changes to his room as his needs grow and evolve. I looked around the other day and realized how much it had changed and felt like it was a good time to document it!
Here is the first impression of Hue’s room as you enter. There is a craft on the outside of the wall he made during peak quarantine last year. All his play clothes are hanging on the painted Ikea knob rack. (I painted this around the same time as his rainbow banner so I just used some of the same colors.) We got that cool robot clock at a craft fair a couple of years back. You can see a peek at Hue’s big boy bed and our recliner/rocker that we are very close to giving to my friend who will be having a baby soon. I am surprisingly very attached to the rocker. We have spent so many nights in that chair but it’s taking up some precious real estate so we have been trying to wean off of needing it for the past couple of months. We have improved but I think we just need to rip the bandaid off and move on from it. It has served us so well.
As you walk in Hue’s room the first thing on your left are some closets. I hung up some of his gorgeous are so the closet doors weren’t such a stark white. I got the letter board from here. I have sung that song to Hue every night since he was a baby so it was appropriate to have the beginning lyrics up on the letter board.
On Hue’s space wall (wallpaper was from here) we have his hexagon shelves. I have a whole blog post on how to make these separate shelves one unit here. Behind the chair is a huge basket that holds all of his stuffies.
Here is Hue’s big boy bed. I got all of his bed sheets from Target. I recently got his blanket there too. I showed you how to make this diy rainbow banner here. I have a bumper here so he doesn’t fall out (we got something like this) but if he does we keep his crib mattress on the floor for a soft landing.
This art is directly above his bed. We made both the paintings at home together and got the “LOOK UP” cross stitch from Michael’s. I don’t think it’s available anymore but here is something very similar. Hue loves to rearrange his art here on the regular.
Hue’s book collection has exploded. We have 3 wall-book-shelves, a whole bookcase full and now a bunch on his dresser! Any opportunity to get Hue a book we do! The museum gift shop? Bookstores? Amazon? Yes, yes and yes! We really cannot get enough books!
I will be doing a book post soon on a lot of his books because we have so many good children’s books!
Here is a pulled back view of this side of the room. As we make art we hang it. I got those paper mâché letters from here – they have different sizes available in store. Hue’s diaper genie will go away as he learns to potty train. We still use his camera/monitor – mostly at night. We have his night sky projector which is this but in a grey color and his Hatch sound machine on top of the dresser. All of his baby room essentials are linked here and here. His dresser is full of clothes and you can see what the top left drawer looks like here. His framed stick collection diy is here and his “Be Kind” banner + California flag + other free art can be found here!
This concludes the tour of Hue’s toddler room refresh! We have added a little ladder/shelf for his shoes. We keep track of his height with the removable height chart. Jake got Hue that surf poster a while back. I just want his room to be a happy place for Hue to be and a place he can call his very own so he can create and imagine whenever he wants!
