I am working on a computer for a large amount of my work day. Also when I push myself at night. Podcasts keep me going, especially when the going gets rough… Here are a few of my favorites right now:

Out of Line with Caroline Lee is probably hands down my favorite go-to podcast. I love the way she sets up her interviews. First she addresses a topic near and dear to the interviewed person’s heart and they talk pretty much about that subject for around 40 minutes to an hour. Then in like episode 1.2 she address social media with the same person – genius! She asks different questions as they relate to that specific person. The people that she interviews are super awesome. Some of her guests have been Joy Cho (which is how I found out about this podcast) and Jen Gotch to name a few who I already follow on Instagram. Today I listened to Emily Katz. I think the reason why I like this specific listen so much is it is about all different creative types that give a peak inside to their day to day life.

Young House Love Has A Podcast is an adorable married husband and wife team. They fix up the houses they live in together and document the whole process. They are pretty impressive and make aggressive house changes look easy. Plus they bought a vacation home that they are fixing up right now and they loved the area so much they bought another fixer upper in the same vacation town. Their podcasts are short but sweet.

Chris Loves Julia Podcast broke the news 3 days ago that the episode I was listening to would be their last. GASP… Whaaaa? Julia Marcum is full of knowledge when it comes to design. She can be pretty bold and unexpected in her designs which never are a let down. I found out about this podcast after Young House Love interviewed them on their show. I actually was already following them on Instagram because of this beautiful re-design of their kitchen. If you haven’t listened to them then you have a full 60 episodes to catch up on! Lucky! Also full disclosure, bear through the first few episodes, they laughed SO much that it did get annoying after a while but as they moved along they edited a lot of their laughter out. You think I am cruel about laughter but you will totally get what I mean once you first start listening. Also, Julia did this podcast with her husband, Chris and they had their friend, Preston Pugmire, mix the podcast and is also like the podcast MC – which also took a minute to get used tho this format. Once you get over those beginner hiccups then you are off into the world of design. Paint color is discussed A LOT but so are great design tips. Sad to hear this one is going but it seems like they are making room for even bigger things to come in the future!

Clever these two ladies, Jaimie Derringer – Founder and Executive Editor of Design Milk and Amy Devers, give great interviews and also interview great people!!!! I think they not only Skype to each other during their show but also to the person being interviewed. Or at least I think I have that right. I like their format of saying hi to each other and introducing who they are about to interview and then they hang up once the interview is over but stay on the line with each other and discuss their thoughts on the person they just interviewed. They show their experience and comfortableness within the design community when interviewing/discussing with their guests who are designers of some sort. They too pull back the curtain of the creative lives of people who live and breath in the world of design.

How I Built This with Guy Raz is a must-have on the listen list. He interviews big people from very well-known businesses and asks them how the f**k did they get from A to Entrepreneur. Their story’s vary but they all  have the same qualities – hard work and not having any other option but what it was that they had set out to do.

Bitch Sesh are two very funny ladies, Casey Wilson and Danielle Schneider, who comment mostly about housewives but really anything on Bravo. I don’t really even watch those shows anymore but I love listening to them banter back and forth. I even went to a live show of theirs. I always laugh during their podcast and I they make the gym go by so much faster!

So, here is my go to list of podcasts for the beginning of 2018. I am always keeping my ears open wide for new podcasts out on the horizon. Always nice to add more podcasts to my ever growing library!
